I had no idea that Mr W Stevenson would be leaving so soon, and as this dual system of English sisters and Wardmasters is not at all satisfactory I would suggest as follows :-

1. That the senior Wardmaster's resignation be accepted.

2. That Junior Wardmaster Elwin's services be dispensed with at the termination of his agreement on 2nd Dec. 1894, if he does not leave before. I mention this because I know he is trying to obtain some other employment as he does not feel strong enough to perform his duties (especially at night) here.

See Eso.25736

3. That two European Hospital trained sisters be obtained through the Crown Agents from the Matron of the London Hospital School for Trained Nurses, on the same conditions and pay as those already employed here.

4. That Junior Wardmaster Brett's services be retained, his duties being to take charge of the surgical appliances and instrument and to be on duty in the Receiving Ward during the day when there are in-patients.

I have purposely not forwarded Mr Stevenson's resignation earlier as I wished to consult with the Matron concerning this important change. She agrees with me that the arrangement which I now suggest will be much more satisfactory than the present system.

If the Matron of London Hospital is informed as to the duties these sisters will be required to perform I feel confident...
